I was looking for a radio cabinet to make an amplifier for the MP3 player. And have the look of an old radio. Turns out, it was a great old radio with a phono input. All I had to do was build the pre-amp, after I found out that the radio/amp worked. So really, I'm only posting it for it's amp.

Bought a funky 60's console for $125.00 at a garage sale because in had cool Gold painted Jensen speakers in it. There was wires running from this console thru a hole poked into the wall...

I ask the woman in charge, "hey can I see where those wires go?" Sure, she said. There's a closet next to the living room. Open it up and the wires are hooked up to a pair of Dynaco MK3's with the original Gold Lion KT88's still intact.

"What are you going to do with those?" I asked, "Oh you can have em..." was her reply.... Say no more sweet child...

that was my best score...

That's freaking criminal TT. Man. You could make a clean $100 profit right now on those. I'll make payment any way you want. I'll even pay for shipping.

Yes, I find it easier if I hold my hand over the top part of the picture, leaving only the knobs exposed.

Sorry Dan, stuff been sold a few years now. The console had the Jensens which sold for 150.00 on Ebay; the turntable 20.00, tape deck 40.00, un-opened Scotch reel to reel tapes 100.00.

Sold the quad KT88s for 750.00, kept the mono blocks for a few years then rebuilt them with a Kara Chaffee Mod in one of those audioXpress magazine articles. Finally sold them for around 650.00 I believe...

One of those once or twice in a lifetime events you keep wishing would happen again.... and this a a little ol town in Oregon...

Your seller sounds like my kind of guy. Years ago i was prowling around a little "junk" shop someplace in Orygun and found a Collins 30S1 linear amplifier. The wife was with me and I had been spending like a fool for months. The cupboard was bare. Anyway he wanted $800 for it. A good deal at the time.

I found a real pair of polarized Oakley's last week in Killeen (where Fort Hood is). Paid $2 for them and sold them to a buddy for $50. Also I buy a LOT of tools and knives from pawn shops. For a SOG or Kershaw you pay $25-$30 (after haggling) all day and the Kershaw's now use 14C28 Sandvik steel which is one of the cool new powdered metal based blades. They get razor sharp and hold an edge well, especially for the price. Also have found a lot of nice pliers and cutters (US or Italy made) for $1-2 a pair, regardless of condition. Lots of other tools too including Starrett rulers, brand new pencil style chamfering tools, precision US made screwdrivers, etc and all for literally pocket change. Hit up your local pawn shops and dig through the tool buckets (get to the bottom!), find some stuff you like and make them a really lowball offer. 9 times out of 10 they take it no questions asked, regardless of the tool IME.

Well I went to see my brother tonight. His oldest son (is in the navy) came home from North Africa this week so I went to see my nephew. In any case, most sunday's my brother gets up early and goes to his local flea market. This is what he had for me tonight. He bought them for one dollar each.

There are 7- NOS 5U4's, 4- NOS 6V6's, 5-NOS 5Y3's, 5-NOS 12AX7's (One of them a Mullard), 5or6 NOS 12AU7's and various pulls and a few other NOS items

My brother strikes again. Called me this morning. He picked me up a 2xEL84 Sano TV front amp for $120. It works but he says it is VERY clean and lo-gain. I can fix that LOL! Hopefully I can get to his house tonight to pick it up. He is supposed to text me some pics....stay tuned!
