Look, people worry too much.
See?
I've had nothing to contribute since 2008 and 3/4 of a thousand posts, and the place hasn't burned down yet!

But 1,000 more of me?
Well, maybe you're right.

Now if you add a 'Blues Jr Mods' and an '18 watt' section, I might be worried.
I guess now would be a bad time to mention that the next expansion (slated for next week) will be an Epi Valve Jr section?

You kid but we will find out soon enough if the barbarians are at the gate and if they'll learn to eat with knives and forks at the table or loot and pillage the town. I was late in arriving so who am I to close the door. And, the Mods can always undo the changes - the future is unwritten and it's only the silly internet.

The new set up begs a procedural question and highlights a problem:

Say I have a general question about 6SC7 tubes but am working on a Tweed, do I post in the Fender section or Tech? Or if someone wants to specifically learn how the hi-low inputs work in his Deluxe project, and then the post goes off on a tangent(s) on various aspects of 5E3s will all such posts have to be moved all the time? Want to know how to remove paint from a BF Fender? Does it matter that it's a Fender?

That's the main reason I settled here was cause I liked the broadness and randomness of the tech section, the posts that appeared and the paths they took. Luckily, the high caliber, humor and camaraderie here made it work well. To me it's all the same stuff anyway - not Marshall, Vox, Fender, just all amp tech. The only other forum I check often is the Hoffman Tweaks/Repairs for the same reason.

If the level of traffic stays the same it won't matter much where the posts wind up, but if it increase, becomes TGP, I don't know if I'll be able to keep up. Already I usually check the TW once a week, and the Dumble and Garage Talk only once in a blue moon.

Reminds me of Craigslist - ever wonder why it still looks like a site from 1995? He was offered zillions to sell it and begged to upgrade it, improve the terrible search, add favorites, add gloss and dazzle, and ads and banners, - he kept it simple, raw actually, on purpose, like the bulletin board at the supermarket, 'cause that's it's beauty - and I guess he doesn't need the money.

My 2 cents.

Well said rp. I used to just open the tech section to see what was new, but now it's not quite as simple- I have to log on and look at posts since last visit. That's not too big a deal, but I do think it will be more difficult for a post to get noticed, and cross-pollination and synergies will be impeded. The overall quality will be determined by how the core group of contributors behaves. If extensive policing becomes necessary that will probably drive away the good as well as the bad.

Excellent point. The URL I have bookmarked is the View Posts Since Last Visit link:

I'm addicted; I check 10 to 20 times a day, and am always sad when things slow down on the weekend. The traffic here has always been easy to keep up with. And if I know others are doing the same, I take comfort knowing many eyes will see my questions.

I've moved a few threads from the Tech section to the Fender section.

If it is a fender amp or clone of a Fender circuit, I think it should go into the Fender section.
Same with Vox and Hiwatt.

The Tech section will be used for, (drum roll) Technical Discussion. :D

That is, if you are trying your own design, have a theory question, have a tech tip, etc, put it in the Tech section.

Seriously, we just have to adapt, I don't think the new sections are going away.

I know I'm late to the party, if I may be permitted a serious comment....

I'm thinking 3 sleeper forums are overkill and won't get traction. If you are a serious TAG reader, 3 additional places to look, that's just too many! May I suggest ONE "CLASSIC AMP" corner will do better than three. Besides, now I have no idea where to post about my Gibson, Ampeg, Teisco, <your fav brand here>....

In the Technical section. :D

I won't be over zealous about what goes where.

I'd go for Fender, Marshall, and Other Classics (to include Hiwatt, Ampeg, Gibson, etc.), supposing that the volume would be split about equally that way. That's still three, though. The tech section would still serve as the generic theory and omphaloskepsis area.
