Nice one Xtian! Black and Yellow is where it's at. I used to have a Gary Kramer Kramertorium in yellow, played like dog poop, quality was not on par with the price tag at all. So I sent it packing.

Here is the late 70's Explorer (pots date it at 1978) I received in trade for a custom amp (JCM-800'ish) from my childhood friend in NH.
Ridden hard and put away wet is an understatement for the condition that I received it in. All of the gold hardware (except the tuners!) was heavily corroded and more green than gold. The pots actually had standing rust just about everywhere. The pickgard was in about a hundred pieces due to embrittlement.
I replaced the pickups with those from a 74 ebony Les Paul Custom that had become severely microphonic. I removed the covers and did the homegrown wax potting gig which worked like a charm.
BNP made the pickguard from my drawing. Back etched white with black painted logo. Luckily, it fit like a glove the first time.
I gently brushed off the green verdigris from the tailpiece and bridge with a toothbrush and lighter fluid so it retains a vintage air to some extent.
The frets were heavily rusted/lightly pitted so I taped off the fretboard and steel wooled them with a couple of grades to smooth them out.
I played it out for the first time this Saturday and simply love the tone and playability. I have played Les Pauls exclusively for 40 years and am totally kicking myself for waiting so long to own and play one of these!
Rock on,
Dave O.

The last three sets I've done have been painted but I use a water based paint. So the fumes ain't bad but the over spray from the airless makes a mess . they have some badass latex now no need for oil or lacquer . I'm gonna switch over to water base lacquer if I can find something affordable lacquer is 29 bucks a gallon water based that doesnt suckis 80 .and I'll need a bigger compressor cause you can't thin it down . hell I guess I don't needful to worry about it I haven't got q call for a kitchen in 2 months. I guess I'm just gonna give up and move into my moms basement.

It's GM from different years on different lines. Yeah.
Gibson's custom colors minus unpublished Aztec Bronze Met are that thing that pops up when you google "gibson custom colors". They aren't all custom colors on all models after '65 that normally only come in the colors, ie; non-reverse Firebirds and SG Melody Makers. People don't recognize that.
Most NR Birds were colors. Most normal Firebirds were sunburst. SG cherry is also a custom color on most models, but not 335s, SGs, ect.
Confusing at first.

Guess I don't have to worry about it cause I'll never be able to afford one. I just missed out on the time when you could get gibsons reasonable . when I was 13 I saved my money from working all sumer and bought a like new 68 SG for 300 bucks . my mom flipped out I don't know what It would go for now probably a lot more than 300 bucks. I traded it for a purple ibanez
