I've gotten pretty lucky on most of my gear buys, but there are a couple I wish I would have purchased.
1. 61/63 Parts-o-caster. 61 olympic white body that was well relic'd with a 63 neck with rosewood board that had a nice chunky profile and played like butta. Could have got it for $1800 but did have the cash at the time.
2. 64 beater Strat that had the snot played out of it but still sounded sweet. All original but extremely worn for $2500.
Those were both around at about the same time and I just couldn't put the money together at the time. A few weeks later I had the cash, but both were gone. Got my 74 Hardtail Strat and 69 twin instead.
There is also a super worn out 76 LP that got away. Never even got a chance to see it in person before it was gone. I could it had the magic about it just from the photos.
Stupid me! I HAD a Fender '93 Deluxe Strat in mint condition that I purchased from Elderly instruments for $600 something - don't remember the exact cost. I ended up selling it on eBay to a guy in Florida that buys guitars for overseas. So, the guitar I should have kept is in some other country. Stupid me!
I also had a Fender Jazz bass that was the same color as the Strat. I sold that too. Stupid me!
Reason: I told myself that I was going to concentrate on acoustic guitars only and that I didn't need electrics anymore. As for acoustics, I have a '93 Gibson J-45 (sunburst), '94 Gibson Gospel (natural) and a '83 Gibson J-25 (natural) all of which I still have.
