Actually if you use a high impedance tank, a high quality opamp can be your current source and be less noisy, depending on your LV source. I'd like a bipolar 15V supply.
But that requires some real estate planning in the chassis.
Tube junkie that aspires to become a tri-state bidirectional buss driver.
