Some good ideas already, but this is my story:
I had to take a flight training course at Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach, Florida. Went to a pawn shop and saw a US$40.00 acoustic that was playable but needed new strings. Deal was I would buy it for his asking sum, install new strings, keep it for a month and he would buy back for $20.00. Done deal!
You could have your buddy rent you one (an amp also). There are rental businesses in almost every country.
Anyhow, under any circumstances would I recommend taking your guitar to such a trip. Specially when you will be playing at a wedding where everyone is interested in socializing, not really paying lot of attention to the band. Unless, of course, you're going to be playing side man to E.C., Bonamassa, Carlton or Robben, then that's another story….
