I don't want to resort to glued cap stack again either. :x

I destroyed the cap stack in my LP removing the caps. Peel and pry throw in thrash. :)

Someone with talent could properly size the board and figure out spacing so we all could have a new board layout to use  Someone

Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense to glue in the parts most likely to need replacing first.

I never liked those floating 100K 3W resistors soldered together either.

We need a precision TW power supply board!

Yeah a radial cap board would not take up much room and would be better.

Hmm maybe I'll make a precision type board for fun good idea Lefty. :)

Why would you want a cap stack?

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

I'm working on an Express. Sorry if it looks like I'm highjacking this thread but, is there some kind of "etiquete" regarding naming clones? I'm not sure if the correct thing would be calling it Paulus Express (which is what it is) or some other name...

All good stuff guys but I have to admit I enjoy winging it and see what I can come up with, it's part of the thrill of building a new amp.

I also, find it easier for me to build if I start with blank chassis so I can arrange components my way. All rather silly for a 57 year old nut case

Bass Rocket for my daughter:

Converted a Rocket I built a few years ago using rjguitar chassis, Pacific transformers and solid state recto for Bass use for my daughter.

For now I just changed out the tone caps to .047 and .1 so we can hear some thumping. I really should increase the cathode bypass cap to something crazy like 250uf I suppose.

Running EL34's in cathode bias.

I'll bite on the TW precision power supply board layout...although the "talent" part might be arguable!

I have been recently laying out and etching my own pedal power supply boards with very good results. Definitely homegrown/DIY flavor...but they all seem to work just fine.

Could someone provide me with a recommended manufacturer and line of HV caps to design it around?

Cheers,
Dave O.

Thanks Randal. That is a dovetailed drawer kit I stained and made front valance. rjguitar faceplate.

Dave O. looks cool, someone with knowledge will comment on HV caps I hope.

I had an hour to kill this afternoon and I just couldn't resist!

Kind of a "working man's" PS filter board using readily available Nichicons and Xicon metal oxide resistors.

View perspective is looking into the chassis with the control panel at the top.

Odd...I just noticed that the Xicon MO resistors that I have been using for all these years are only rated to 350V! I have never seen one fail in the dozen or more builds that I have used these in. Some as high as 475VDC!

Have I been missing something for all these years?

Cheers,
Dave O.

That's nice. And it could be almost a universal PS board.

Thanks mate!

Yes indeed...the same thought had crossed my mind regarding flexibility of use.
