Be happy,
if your wife was´nt home you maybe destroyed something in the amp.
Put the cathodes of V5 and 6 on pin 3.
You are a lucky man. say thanks to your wife.

On the Trainwreck Layout there is a red wire leaving V3 pin 5 going to V5 and hits R28 but is unclear what pin it hits,Cieratone does not show this,Any advise?

Hi,
this red wire is a mistake. Same as the black on V3 which goes like to pin 8 but it has to hit pin 9.
You have to think more logical through all.
A lot of stuff is like copy/paste, so there allways can be small mistakes. But the guys here expect that if you use their layout you know what you are doing. Its not the layout of a kit with resposibility of a company
The next: I saw that you put your output tubes pair next pair . The layout here has it i.e. V4, V5, V6, V7. You have it, compaired with the layout here: V4, V7, V5, V6. Do you understand?
Thats not a mistake, but its possibele that you compaire it the wron way with other layouts than yours. I did not check the Ceria Layout, maybe its there like yours. But than take care, whe you look at other layouts.
Allways count tehe Pins by yourself and write down at which pin what should be. As shown at the tube data sheet.

What I want say is: check every thing from both sides and dont trust only layouts.

Good luck

Mikey you must know that pin 5 on all the tubes of this amp are filament pins so if you wired up all your filaments correctly pin 4-5 and 9 to V1-V3 and pins 4-5 of V4-V7 (EL84) your done with those.

Need to use the schematic more when building amps the layout is only a guide.

Thanks Guys,Point taken about schematics.I guess I have to stop depending on chassis layouts I think in the long run they keep you from really learning.Thanx Again,Mikey

Liverpool fires up

Post by ampmike »

Hey Guys,My Liverpool is working.Need to put it in a cab with some sheilding. Its squeels a bit Middle and base seem to have a squeeling effect. But it feels good to have it done,Thanks Bob S.The 2 diodes being in wrong caused all the blowing fuses,Thanks for catching that.It definitley is more like an express for sure.High gain put this one mildly.I have to get it to quiet down a bit. Also did not see much difference in switching the bright switch. That needs a look at.Anyway thanks guys for all your help.As allways TAG is the best place to be building amps,And thank you rj for getting me all the parts Brother.Mikey :D

Mikey,

If I recall correctly, this makes the hat trick complete, Express, Rocket, and Liverpool. Congrats, you are getting good at these... I can't wait to see what kind of cabinet you come up with for this. Looking forward to some of your soulful sound clips.

Hi,
one more,
switching the bright depends from the position of the treble pot. If this is wide open the bright switch does not effect audible, at least maybe more hiss.
