Does anyone know what kind of speakers were used in JB's rig? 4x12 altec? 15"?

I've been mulling over building a mini stereo dumbleland/oddessey type amp with the 6an8 driver and 7591 power tubes for ~35 watts per channel using old sansui iron. The Sansui I pulled the trannies from also has the switches like JB's dumbleland special that I'd like use for B/M/R-J and left and right accent.

From what I could find (based on all the old pics, blowing them up and studying them: It's basically a super-bassman or bassman-100 style driver with a cf driving the output tubes (cap coupled, not DC coupled like a bass amp).

Nothing special really. I think Dumble could have crapped in a Bud box and people would fawn over it today like the hope diamond (even if it stunk).

He is obviously of the opinion that Fuchs amps are all dumble clones.Sure some are but he's gone way beyond that now.We all have.Dumble was the inspiration and the vehicle that got Fuchs in the bigtime but he's gone way beyond that to incorporating his own designs as well.

I take the original design and tweak it myself,with some pretty stellar results.I totally admit plagerizing a lot of dumble's design.
Mr Fuchs never denied it either.Fender used Western Electric,Marshall used Fender's Bassman,/Peavey used....well we're not sure what Peavey used,but you get the point.Who cares anymore.
I have heard a real Dumble ODS that I thought sucked the hind tit.But it sold for 40,000 bucks.Confirming Mr Fuch's comment.
I frankly can't stand Robben Ford or Larry Carlton.They both get righteous tones but as artist's the former can't sing and Carlton's stuff bores me to tears.I would be willing to bet they can get all the tone from a Twin Reverb.
The only thing I dig about Dumble amps is the switching circuit and the clean tones that are almost the same as a Twin Reverb.Gee I wonder if he copied the Fender preamp and tweaked it to suit his buyers?
And the pre and post gain are remarkable like a Peavey.Who copied who?
The internet just brings all this to the forefront.

From time to time you shit all over Dumble, yet the foundations of your business are built on him. Your a great guy, and build great amps, but give the man his due, thats all. (Coming from yet another German!)

I hardly "shit on Dumble" Tag. I hold in great respect what he accomplished, although much of it (as has been mentioned by others) was simply based on old Fender, Ampeg, The Radiotron Designers Handbook, and old Western Electric circuits. I never maligned what he did, ever. I think his treatment of customers was deplorable. I never denied my business' foundation started where he left off. If I learned anything from him, it's: build a solid product and treat your customers with total respect. I do find it funny when people fawn over things he made that are simply nothing more than repackaged Fender or Dynaco parts, but because they bear his name, they become "golden turds" imho.

I've evolved in my own direction, and never looked back. The world is already full of his so-called "friends" who dissed me (or attempted to), or shunned or avoided my products "out of respect for Dumble" and today play clones, or sent their amps to be cloned. Some are manufacturing solid state Wreck and D-Style amps...ironic ? Yup.

Don't become a hypocrite and slam me Tag. I never treated you nor your patronage with any less than total respect Tag. While I don't agree with what you think are good tones, I DO think you're a nice guy, a decent player, and should focus more on playing more guitar and less on keyboard.

Are you speaking about the Dumbleland or the Odyssey? Because the Odyssey, so far, looks to me as if the power tubes are not CF driven.

One model (Gary Johnson sent me some pics of it..) had a CF style driver and Dyna iron, a big bass amp. This one pictured has an input circuit and a driver, like a stripped down Fender...see what I mean ?
