Tony I never said that your layout was wrong.Original poster was confused with the different schematics and layouts that are floating around and i suggested to look at the actual photos of 124 so he wouldn't have any doubts about the correct wiring of the loop network.
I hope that you didn't take that as a negative criticism of the work that you have shared with us.

Max, something you may not be aware of is, when there is a ceramic "bright" cap on a volume control, the more you turn up that control the less effect the cap has on the signal.Max wrote:This may be your personal taste of course.Structo wrote:What is crucial though with the Dumbleator is to have a bright cap on the Master Volume, from the right lug to wiper, this helps the tone.
I believe I have a 47pf on mine.
My personal taste:
When playing an original "classic" ODS, I did never miss this master volume capacitor. Not without and not with a Dumbleator in the loop.
When playing an original "skyline" amp I always disliked the (usually 68pF) cap with MV settings below 09:00. Above 09:00 better up to "fine with me". With a Dumbleator in the loop: just great, as now you can use the settings of the MV and the "drive" pot of the Dumbleator to control the amount of brightness added by this cap.
All a matter of personal taste IMHO.
Have fun,
Max
Say we have a pot with a bright cap that is attached to the wiper (middle lug) and the bottom lug. (right lug when viewed from the rear).
This is how we typically see them on Dumble amps.

As we rotate that pot, the cap has less and less effect on the circuit because the resistance between those two points becomes less and less as the pot is rotated clockwise.
So above half way or so the cap does not have as much effect on the tone then say it did at 1/4 rotation.
That is why guys will typically use a larger bright cap on the master volume of a ODS amp if he is using a Dumbleator, because if they are like me I have my master up around 1:30-2:00 and use the Dumbleator output pot as an overall master.
Most guitarists don't use bright cap switches unless playing low volume, to liven things up a bit.

No were cool!!..I didn't take it as that.. Sorry if it came off insincere.. The layout was originally wrong with respect to how 124 was wired and my post should have addressed rocknroll' question about the older layout( loop) not yours.Sorry.. Be well!!
