Tonic Amps - 2009 LA Amp Show Photos

Post by dartanion »

Hey Folks.

Just thought I would post a link to the photos we took in our demo room at the LA Amp Show. It was just me manning the room most of the day and my graphic designer came to help out where he could. He took the photos and gave me a break when needed.

Anyway, here's the url: http://www.tonicamps.com/LAAS_scaled/

We had a blast as usual (4th Amp Show for us) and hope to make the new Austin Amp Show in March.

Thanks Tom. A forumite that lives near you (Newburg, OR) did the artwork, Mike Henderson. He did a fantastic job of making my vision a reality for the logo and faceplates.

Isn't he the one that works on Brown Notes website?

I'm surprised there aren't any of your gorgeous hardwood cabs there.

That would probably change the price point of an amp quite a bit though, eh?

It does change the price point, and I only do the hardwood cabs for custom orders. I don't stock them as everyone wants something different. I did take an order for one of my 18watter with mahogany head and speaker cabs! I love working with mahogany. I attached a photo of Mike's head cab I did for his Absinthe. That was one nice piece of wood!!

Hey Darin

Good to see your product being well received.

Shame we couldn't be there this year as timing was against us, but will definitely try to get to one of the shows next year.

You left the PRS behind? What a great looking lineup. I wish I could get my tolex work up to your level. I still gotta use corners to keep things tidy.

I still think that little all wood fifteen watter on top is the best in class I've ever heard. Kicks butt down low and still retains core definition. Great amp.

Hey Dan,

Where have you been? Haven't seen you around here in quite a while.

I wanted to bring my PRS, but ran out of room in my wagon. It also could use some fret work, so it was left behind.

I'm living in Sparks, NV again. We'll be putting the boat up for sale. My mother doesn't have a full stringer of fish so to speak. We're making it possible for her to remain in her (then our) home. Other family medical junk has kept me away from the bench for some time. Anyway, I've been playing keys and sax from time to time to keep warts from forming on the palms of my hands.

Good looking show. Did you stuff the cabs with Fanes?

Dan,

I hope all the health issue are resolving themselves. I hear you taking care of family. It won't be that long before we will be facing similar issues as our parents are getting older.

I hope you find some time to start building again. You do great work and it's a shame to have that sit idle.

I did have all the cabs loaded with various Fanes. They are a different sound than Celestions or Eminence. The favorites at the show were the AXA 12 and Studio 12L.

Hope all is well in NV.

Give me a Google ref. I did a search and don't come up with local manufacturers. RodBods is Austrailian.

Sounds interesting anyway.

Warning, warning: I found it.

Dan

I'll add a +1 for it being good to see you around again.

We've missed your acerbic wit around here. And your building skills of course.

Hope all is well for you.
