Train "Wrecked" amp clip
http://chrisdelis.com/music/GTR%20sampl ... _wreck.mp3
My amp tech had built a couple of nice sounding clones awhile back. Hopefully when I get the cash I will buy one. In the meantime he modded one of my amps with the circuit and hence the clip. In the future I will do more clips.
The guitar used was a Tom Anderson strat style with Fralin P92's plugged staright in. THD cab with 2 classic 80's.
Thanks for listening.

codsterblue,
That was fantastic, great playing and great amp. We have the same taste in tone/music I can hear that.

Well done codster! Great playing and tone.
Re: Train "Wrecked" amp clip
Sounds great!
Your style of playing would also work great on a Dumble ODS clone.

Great Clip!
Crickee, after listening to it, I knew your playing sounded familiar. Took me a while to remember, but your Guytron clip is just killer:

Dropped it on a CD and used my Tascam CD-GT2 to cop some of your tricks/licks.
Very tasty player you are indeed.

Re: Train "Wrecked" amp clip
Thanks to all for the kind words.
The amp in question is my '66 Fender Bassman head. It took awhile for my friend and tech to get it where we liked.
He did the mod on the bass channel as I never used it anyway but I still have the normal channel so it's like a two channel amp but without switching.
To get the voltage to Wreck specs we used a variac at first and then put in one of Dana's VVR's but I blew about 2 or 3 mosfets. The Bassman is at the upper limit of the VVR wattage rating and there are heat issues but it seems squared away now. Also on that clip I was using 6V6's but it will also run on 6L6's which is how I prefer it now and hope to get a newer clip now that we are finished with it. Still with 6V6's or 6L6's there is that "whoo" type midrange which is cool.
Here is a very un-Wreck clip of the Normal channel with and without pedals and the same guitar.http://chrisdelis.com/music/GTR%20sampl ... groove.mp3

Was the first clip then using a pedal?

No. The first clip posted (the bluesy one) is just the guitar and amp using the Wrecked channel. The last clip was the normal channel both clean and with effects. That is a very Fendery sound at least clean.M Fowler wrote:Was the first clip then using a pedal?

Re: Train "Wrecked" amp clip
I have to say I definitely prefer the "wrecked" clip. However, the second clip sounds great also. What effects were you using in the second clip? That is a very nice natural sounding overdrive whatever it is. The overdrive is more complex in the first clip, but I wouldn't be sad if I could make my amps sound as good as #2.
This thread just goes to show that tone is in the hands. Nicely done!

Re: Train "Wrecked" amp clip
Thanks. The "Wrecked" sound is pretty unique and obviously a modified amp will only get in the ballpark. Still I find the sound inspiring and there is just a certain vibe and feel you get with it that is hard to describe. When my tech first made his clone he described it as the amp almost sucks the notes out of your guitar. I would tend to agree.CapnCrunch wrote:I have to say I definitely prefer the "wrecked" clip. The second clip is just really a very normal Blackface Fender Bassman sound. The clip starts completely clean and then I add 2 pedals. A Barber Tone Pump EQ and then a Burn Unit EQ. They seems to work quite well with that amp though you probably don't hear a big difference between the 2 pedals.
