Mixing stages and voltage drop resistors??

I apologize in advance if I missed this on the forum somewhere.

I've read of people discussing this section of the design of many vintage amps with Ken Fischer. They all seem to say that he asserted that they removed quality and touch sensitivity from the sound.

What does everybody make of that claim?
