Does Gary include a little sun to supply the Jizzawatts when you order the amp or is tghe flux compensator driven with kinetic energy?

Re: Two new Glaswerks incoming! New models.....
Take a closer look at the main board. Most of the parts are still eyelet to eyelet. Plate and cathode wires run under the board straight to the eyelet, same as my old amps. All front edge board connections are 1/16" eyelets. 2 oz copper is used. More than enough based on my calcutions for heat and current loading. Only one spot on main board has HV on a trace (!180 volts), the rest as short signal runs that are a minimum of 125 mils wide. The area is virtually the same as running a wire between the eyelets. The traces on the power supply are HUGE, resistors on power supply board are all eyelet mounted to allow easy fine tuning.BobW wrote:Gary, Congrats on the great job! The PC boards add a real nice touch (1 oz. copper?).![]()
Scott, you are one lucky man, can't wait to hear the sound clips.
Big advantage, I am not sawing and drilling boards and inhaling the dust, diasadvantage, I still have to install eyelets. Still the advantage in servicability is worth it.

Why didn't you have the holes where the eyelets would go plated? I'm sure you had a good reason, but it's not obvious to me, seems like that would save some labor and not otherwise affect the construction methods or the tone, but maybe I'm wrong there.

I just re-read your last post, and I see where you explained why you didn't plate the eyelets. I thought about the serviceability too, but you could a heavy plating on there that would be less resistant to ripping off the board. I would have thought with the larger hole that would be less of an issue. Makes sense though...

The eyelet holes are thru plated. the eyelets are hand set and then soldered on both sides. The pads for the eyelets (1/8") are .25" so there is a lot of real estate to work with when soldering the eyelets. The boards are ordered doubled side so that I can do it this way. Costs more, but to me it is worth it.wjdunham wrote:I just re-read your last post, and I see where you explained why you didn't plate the eyelets. Great work... Did you notice much in the way of tone change when you went to the PC boards?..

Thanks, as far as sound, I think these are much better than the first gen amps.talbany wrote:Gary

Cool!! I definitely like the consistency the PC amps bring to the table.. They seem to me to be quieter(gain noise) as well as much more stable to me...No problems running the gain up on these amps... A well designed board trumps the old style boards in my opinion..It's all in how you design it as you know....I did find that they were a bit brighter or crisper.. if you will especially on the OD side but nothing drastic or a few tweaks couldn't cure especially with the HRM circuit.... Once again Congrats....

I just played the amps for a couple of hours..... Mainly the SODII. It is amazing. The versatility is incredible. Both OD tones, HRM and non HRM, are fantastic. I prefer HRM with megaboost and the non HRM with no boost. Both channels have adjustable OD trims on the back. Good thing since the settings are much different for both. The non HRM trbale and bass controls work very well. THe HRM controls are a beautiful thing to have. Hard to believe I lived with HRM amps without them!
Reverb is serious..... Plenty for me with the knob at 9 oclock. With the clean verb all the counterclockwise, the pot clicks off and the reverb is out of circuit. Great idea!
I'll do a full writeup sometime in the next day or two. I may even shoot a little video.
