I've had a persistant cough for the last 6 weeks it's not enough for the doctor to write a script but it's more then enough to remind me I have the crud. go rhino virus! to add insult to injury a few weeks back I was eating a hard shell taco and had part of the shell break off and get caught in my throat. I could feel it cut it's way down until the next bite when it broke in half and finished it's trip. Now when the cough gets going I get to relive that feeling like it just happened. Fucking taco's so good yet so evil!

You got to love those tacos and breakfast burritos.

My grandma always brought out the brandy in hot water shots that cut the edge and then the bourbon/honey/water mixture to rid the kroup. When it gets 25 to 35 below like it has much this January a shot or two always helps. Heat wave yesterday at 35 I got so warm had to roll the truck windows down and unzip the jacket.

You may have an infection in your throat from the taco shell cutting it.
Then if it is irritated it could be causing your cough.
If you are sure the cough is from mucus in your lungs you should get cough syrup with expectorant in it.
You may need antibiotics if there is infection.

Almost all cough drops are disgusting after 3. Halls Breezers, otoh, are pretty good for a chronic cough -- don't chew your stomach up.

I agree with Structo. Go see your quack, you might need antibiotics. It's not uncommon for the initial rhinovirus to run down your system to the point where bacteria can get a foothold.

Last winter I got a cold that lasted 5 weeks, even after it turned bacterial on me in the 2nd week and I ate a weeks worth of Rx antibiotics.

Cough drops make you feel better for a while but they don't fix anything.

If you're not going to treat the malady, I'd suggest a good Polish vodka (Bison grass, preferably frozen) instead of cough drops.

My drummer swears by a concoction made of a couple of herbs steeped in whiskey (cheap hooch will do). I can never remember what the herbs are - and no, it's not the herb . I wish I had some now - I feel like crap, I've got a never ending source of fluid somewhere in my sinus cavities, and I just picked up 2 extra shifts this week, both overnights.

Seriously, if you scratched your throat with a taco, it can make you cough. It won't usually get infected, because the area is used to having more bacteria around than most other parts of the body. The coughing can re-injure the area, and it can take a while to heal. You can try sprays that numb the area to see if that prevents the urge to cough.
The safest thing to do is check with your family doctor or favorite ENT doctor and check it out.

"Cheap" Bourbon? Ain't no such thing! It all comes from Bourbon County, Kentucky same state where they make Eminence speakers. By law it must be aged in NEW charred white oak barrels. Pop quiz... know what they do when they're done with the barrels? The load 'em up and ship 'em to Scotland where they age Scotch in 'em. You don't expect the thrifty Scots to buy new barrels, do ya?! Heck, if the Scots had low cost white oak they'd smoke the barley over oak instead of over a peat fire. Peat moss? It's dirt. They smoke the malt over burnin' dirt.

Is the big dog the audiologist and the little dog the patient or is it the other way around? Or, is the little dog a proctologist? Maybe the little dog is an ENT and the big dog has it's head up it's ass? Why is the big dog standing with it's front legs in a bucket of water? Is this standard medical procedure? And what about that question anyway? It's always "no" unless it's "yes", but there would be no "no" anyway because the respondent couldn't respond unless it was yes.

Very confusing. My wife has had this bronchitis for going on three weeks now and her Dr put her on antibiotics and told her it was on the edge of pneumonia. Best go see your GP. Is your snot green? Yellow? Describe your snot and your phlegm for us. As always, pictures are a must for an accurate diagnosis. Maybe you need more NFB.

You're right, whut wuz I thinkin? Buy a handle o' whiskey and do yer water cooler impersonation, point the bottom of that sucker straight towards the sky and do yer best.

You'll probably still be coughin', after all a thick slug of 80-100 proof is gonna burn all the way down and then some. Ya gotta drink enough that you forget you're coughin'...
