Oscilloscope

Post by C Moore »

I have been keeping a look-out for a scope on Craigslist. Have not found the right one so far. Is there somewhere better to look for a used, 2 channel, 50 MHz, analog scope?
Thank You

Search for a Hamfest in your area. i've also had luck with school districts as they upgrade lab equipment they often sell off the old. You don't need 50Mhz for basic Guitar Bias and Trouble shooting a Dual Trace 20Mhz would do just fine. Fry's Electronics also from time to time has demo and open box deals i picked up a discontinued dual trace 100Mhz scope for $100 last winter while on my way to the san diego. just be proactive and keep your eye out. I'd encourage you to buy new unless you are prepared to have a used one and are prepared to at least have it calibrated if not serviced as well. With that being said there are alot of bullet proof scopes on the used market that will be perfect for what you need! If you buy used try to see the trace and the scope in action, if it doesn't power up no matter how cheap just keep walking. Just know it's a risk and once you buy it your the one responsible for repairs. A great Scope is worth the $$$ so rest easy knowing your $ was well spent.
