Katina Marie was born at 12noon today! Completed Pics

Post by keithrick »

Hello all,

The "stork" delived my tubes at 11:50 am and at 12 noon Katina Marie was born in all her sonic glory! :D

Here are the stats:

Controllable harmonic feedback: Check!
bloom....yes
controllable from guitar....yes
raunchy distortion: Hell yes!
touch sensative: Check!
Ears ringing: a big "10-4"
Hardwood Cab: I'm working on that!

Thanks to all who have helped me along the way especially Omar for hosting this board along with Allynmey, UR12, Moose and the board community whose parts and advice made my build a success.

Here is what I used to build Katine Marie:
-Boards from Dana
-Iron from Moose
-Express BOM from this board ordered from Mouser
-Chassis layout from board
-Francesca Pics
-Wire "Teflon"and Tubes from Lord Valve. He sells wire in 5 feet increments "Cheap"

You can see pics in my previous post. I intend to try to make a mp3 recording or mpeg this weekend.

It sounds awesome. Next project Dumble......

Congrats Keith!!!!

Katina looks beautiful. I told Allyn the same thing , but after hearing the amp for the first time you WILL have this smile on your face for at least 3 or 4 days. There is no need to go to the doctor to have him check your face as this is normal.

Keith,
Congrats! Glad the board helped bring Katina Marie into the world!

Now per Amp Garage etiquette you must post pics and clips! :D

Here are the completed pics! Thanks again everone. The second knob on the back is the PPIMV.

The wife is happy now that I am back to the land of the living! However, as soon as I get my ODS clone in a box the wife say's I can start soldering the Rocket together! 8)

When should I break it to her that I also have all the parts for a JTM45?!? LOL.

I need to call my box maker!

Keith

Katina looks great in her new home. What kind of wood did you use? You need to hang on to that woman (Wife). It's like finding one that can cook and most don't seem to be that understanding of our little hobby. Can't wait to hear the clips! 8)

The wood on both of my cabs is Walnut. The Express is finished with Tung Oil and the Rocket with red oak stain.

Here is a pic if you missed it of both of the boxes.

Those cabs are stunning!

I used red oak with a light stain. It looks OK, but now I'm wishing I would have used something more exotic.

Norm,

Thanks, yours looks great as well. I like darker wood, however, I had no choice with the wood type but out of the three cabs I finished these two have a poly coat. Here is a pic of my old Fuchs that was just rubbed with tung oil.

I can see you have built an attenuator? I'm moving in another direction, I just picked up a 4x12 Ampeg cabinet loaded with EV Force speakers ($150) 8) !
