Frampton at Showcase Live, Foxboro

Post by muchxs »

I saw Frampton at Showcase Live outside of Boston last night. It's a new venue attached to Gillette Stadium. I used to avoid shows at Gillette, they're like the horror shows from the concerts rant a couple threads down.

Showcase is a new venue, they've been open a little less than a month. It's a little different as clubs go, New England Patriots money buys a better that average club. Bigger. Better laid out. Super P.A. great stage and great sound, not a piecemeal system put together with a component here and a component there as funds allow.

The format is dinner with a show. No dance floor. Our table was right in front of the stage.

The show itself? Kicked ass! I'm not even a Frampton fan or I wasn't before the show. My girlfriend is the Karaoke Queen, she knows all the lyrics to all the songs regardless of artist or genre going back 40 years or so. He covered "Black Hole Sun" (surprise!) in addition to requisite Frampton faves like "Show Me The Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do". He finished the set channeling George Harrison with "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as an encore.

Favorite Frampton moment? An aging groupie offered up a Frampton LP to be autographed right in the middle of the set. The man didn't miss a beat, he sang "I'm kinda busy right now!" then dropped out for a couple bars and autographed the record.

The man obviously still loves his work.
