Kenny built this amp by using parts he had in his shop.

The basis was he was talking to his friend on the phone and he was spitting out ideas and he put them all together to make them work.

Kind of like

I have this lying around and if I use this and this and this I can do this and this and it will effect this and this

WHATEVER!

yea I can do this

and it was done.

Built for his birthday!

I still miss his humor :( Memories!

Used current tubes he said. Sound liked his rocket. More of a cleaner sound with more head room. You had to use his special green pedal for the distortion but it was a rich tone!!!!

Built off a ??????? chasis.

6188

Post by tejastubes »

Almost all of the older 6188 were made by Tung Sol (usually flat grey plates), although I have seen a few Sylvania (usually oval black plates).

A very high quality mil spec 6SL7 tube with low gas/low leakage. Only 1/2 of most NOS production 6SL7 will meet or exceed the specs for the 6188.

I have approx 230 of these, if there happens to be a sudden surge in those wanting to build a Songwriter 30.

Interesting. I use 6SL7 in my Express for a warmer more tweed like sound. I've not tried it in my Rocket yet...
