What's the difference between D'Lite 22/33 and D'Lite 44?

I think the complexity comes from the fact that in real life, these four powertubes are not 100% matched in terms of slope and response to input signal. When an input signal hits these four slightly different powertubes, they'll all respond a bit different, these outputs get summed, resulting in 'complexity'. You could be but I tend to agree with your argument. I was making much the same case with RJ earlier today.

That's a good approximation but I'm sure someone would raise the issue of the difference in the fundamental character of the 6V6 vs 6L6 (or EL84 quad vs EL34 pair). RJ was recalling that Norm did a 6V6 quad - what happened to him? I haven't seen him here in a while.

Anyone have a spectrum analyzer? Seems that an FFT on the output of a quad vs pair should show up the differences and eliminate several variables in the experiment. Once characterized, swapping out a pair of tubes in the quad set should also make a change. How 'bout mixing brands of pairs in the quad? Does that exacerbate the complexity?

Getting back to the topic.
The D'Lite 22 is a two 6V6 amp and the D'Lite 44 is a two 6L6 amp.
Not sure what the 33 is.

I think the 22/33 has a dual secondary OT. With 6V6's it runs 22W and with 6L6's it runs 33W due to the smaller OT. The 44W has a bigger OT.

On the other topic - with the proposed logic would six or eight tubes be better (more complex, etc.) than four? For my use, two 6V6's can fill my (bed)room pretty well
