Exactly. I built '1Z4' with a set of mostly stock Ceriatone Overtone boards.
Right on. I have been reading your trials and travails (sp?) for quite awhile now bro. Your recent build thread was great - helped me with my own and psyched me to be sure. Speaking of which, I still intend to post some pix (kind'a proud - first build, and it don't look like it IMHO - modesty aside for a moment ;) ) and etc.. it certainly won't be my last ODS style build. MAN! Even with the 150k pre-od, etc... while it is _very_ gainy, it is such a fricking QUALITY gain. This thing sounds like a million bucks! (again, IMHO... but really! Frackin unbelievable!) I followed the layout religiously except that I float the heater over the sockets... it is SO much quieter than I ever hoped for - even when really dialed up on OD. Even with my strats - so much quieter than I thought I'd achieve. I did use George L's for a couple of the grid/shielded runs - basically cuz I cut the (provided) shielded cable too soon and too short... doubt this made much diff, but... well, like I said - thing's damn quiet. I'm a newbie really - it's supposed to be a noisy mess ;) Glory Be to the Amp Gods - they smiled upon me for this one, heh.. anyway, I'm wastin' space now.

Nubie Question for the experienced among us: Orca, U mentioned setting up a treble bleed with a pot - which seems like a cool idea. Well, along those lines - I was thinking about this 150k/220k pre-od trimmer resistor. It is such a huge part of the OD voicing.. Is this part of the circuit too sensitive to put in a POT in place of the resistor? I figure there's a sound reason why this is not feasible, since I haven't seen it suggested. Guessin it'd be stretching the grid length or a noise issue or something. Don't laugh too hard :)
