My completely up to date Tonex setup will not allow Tone Models as IRs sadly. Really liked the idea of the preamp / power amp into my live setup.
I use Windows and Apple thing.

I just updated the app. Let me try to get a few minutes tomorrow err.. today to see what I have done differently.

If it is another issue I can make suitable versions of whatever and email them to you.

We will figure it out. I am using Nuno Bettencourt ADA into a couple other pwr sections as well. Sounds like 1990 in here. :)

That's really helpful thanks. I'd really like to try the separated pre - power amp idea.
Maybe one day I'll capture my #183 preamp- sounds good. Though I don't have the gear for captures.

Sorry to keep you hanging, I am migrating some things and waiting for a new laptop. I updated the software thinking it was the new editor and got punked by it.. and wouldn't you know that my first test failed to do the idea that I described here but I think I know why, I just can't do anything about it immediately.

Thanks its all much appreciated.
I am certain there is no way for a Tone Model to be recognised as a .wav IR. If you managed to do that I'd be surprised.
I even tried changing the Tone Model filename to .wav but it didn't work.
I've downloaded quite a few preamps to try with my Mesa power amp and also my Class D one.

What about...

Capturing the preamp of your souped up, hot rod of an amp... take the signal from what is or would be the effects loop SEND. Then, separately capture the power amp of said amp feeding in at what is or would be the loop RETURN.

?

Then you could run a Tonex One for your pre > modulation effects > Tonex One for your power amp > whatever amp or listening/recording device

Not because it would be best that way, but maybe more authentic.

It's a good idea in theory, but in practice, latency tends to build up cumulatively with the more A/D -> D/A conversions happening in your signal path. Using two units would double the ToneX One latency from 3ms to 6ms.... which isn't bad on its own but if you had any additional pedals with their own AD-DA conversion happening, that would also get added together.

Can't believe they haven't released a single unit pedal version that can run two captures in series, like for an overdrive pedal into an amp model or something.

I'd take it with more latency for two reasons.
1) I don't think that little more latency would really be human-brain detectable.
2) They flexibility for recording would be a nice plus.

Yes, what he said - two channel unit with loop access between the channels.

Yeah, it's not a total dealbreaker, just something that tends to creep up unexpectedly if you're not paying attention to it. I was getting clever with an HX Stomp and my old Kemper rack AND stacking a Two Notes Opus at the end of a split from it for power amp emulation into a class D power amp, and suddenly I had latency I hadn't really noticed before... if it's just those two ToneX boxes, it's still pretty negligible.

I made two rigs, the Tonex pedals with rack effects and a similar version with 4 channels of Tonex and Amplitube as plugins in Cubase.

Round trip in the box is 6.3ms and the rack is about 1ms faster. Any less buffering in the box loses coherence with 1 thing I can't live without: Audio Damage Discord3 because Eventide is too stupid to code a simple 13 cent pitch bend without 250ms base. 😂

A certain Stelliperson's Blonde Bassman is the loudest, cleanest, awesomest, unbeliveable, ridiculous, fantastical, boldestest, ummm,

(superlatives and commas for days)

Now, about Amplitube. They did something to this a while back. Tonex sounds better as a module within Amplitube as a plugin in Cubase...

But, back to latency for a second.. a friend self-imported two Maxon prototype wireless rigs from Japan that were cute little white box diversity rigs with no markings at all. So, we were playing Charleston.. this is like 86? I plugged it in an started doing LOS test. Sounds great! Very little compansion kind of makes the guitar a little thicker. 100'.. damn. 200'.. 300'..

500' :o

wtf I had a tech drop a line and we put the receiver outside..

1100'.. that comes with enough latency to mail

OMG IT WAS 1986!!! I know this because of what my vocalist said after the first song... anyhow, it was all working out very well until 3 gentlemen from the Department of Naval something or other showed up looking for the thing that was stepping all over the approach to some stupid airport!

So, we started the show and I look over the vocalist is literally standing on his head for the line "upside down" in Love Removal Machine. Big crowd raising all hell...song ends.. and Stephen says "Looks like the Navy fucked up today!".
