What shielded wire do you guys use internally in your amps? I am almost to the end of the 100 meters of bulky and ill-suited Mogami 2319 I've been using. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Get yourself a small spool of RG-174.

I used RG-174 for a long time. It's tender. Insulation melts very easily. I switched to RG-316 about 15 years ago. The PTFE insulation prevents soldering iron scars.

Amen, PTFE sheilded is great. Doesn't melt. Ever!

Mogami 2314, Canare 2314, and several spools of this unmarked teflon silver coated copper coax leftover from AH-64 wiring upgrades i did in 1975:

It's pretty spendy but this stuff is great. It's thin and flexible (the 22awg is not much thicker than my regular hookup wire), cuts relatively easy, and the braid doesn't feel weird and crumbly like some of the mil spec ptfe cable i've found on ebay.

Thank you for these further recommendations. I will give them a try after this RG-316 is used up. So far the RG-316 is working very well but I will try these also. I go through a lot of the stuff.

I have several spools of some really great coax. Double shielded (braid and wrap), 20 gauge fine stranded center conductor. I have two colors, black and silver/gray and a total of about 10,000 feet. This is great stuff. I have a datasheet attached below for similar coax but this stuff isn't as flexible as the datasheet would indicate. I don't know if I'd use it for guitar cable, but it is perfect for amps. Strips very easy and looks very nice to boot. It came from Kick Ass Cables, and is labeled with the brand, so be aware of this if you don't want that label on it, that is the way it comes. Jack at Kick Ass Cables ordered a sample and they sent him the 10,000 feet before his approval. He doesn't want to make guitar cables with it, so I bought it off of him on the cheap.

I'm thinking I will sell most of this coax, as I will never build enough to use even a good fraction of what I have. I think $0.50/foot would be a fantastic price and I'll send out a 10 foot sample for the cost of shipping to a bunch of you guys just to get some feedback out there for others to judge by.

This is outstanding amp cable, not just good.

This is the old Gepco stuff! I loved Gepco and miss them so much. I contacted Beldon who bought them and Beldon said they will make the stuff but you have to order a massive amount. The one you have listed there I use for my personal instrument cables. I would def be interested in buying some to make more instrument cables for myself.

I'd recommend getting a 10' sample to make sure the flexibility suits your needs.
