LCR Meter purchase advice.

Post by dragonbat13 »

I'm considering purchasing this LCR Meter:

Before I buy, are there any other meters I should look into that are under 200 dollars?

That DER meter mentioned above used to have a case that came with it. But I can't seem to find one now. Anybody know what's up with that?

I don’t think there are many other options at that price point, and the one you are considering seems to get good reviews. The other popular hand-held is B&K 849B, which goes for just under $400.

DE-5000 is great, don't think you will find better for less. Be sure to get kelvin clips for it.

I have the DER as well, hunt around for a deal that includes the kelvin probes and the SMD probes.

I found a generic Fluke-style meter case for it and a US english manual for it online, apparently the same meter with a different brand name on it. All the same diagrams and stuff, just in english instead of mandarin.

Disregard above post. Ad misleading, this is for CASE ONLY -without meter or accessories. Sorry!

Another satisfied DE-5000 user here. It's the best option in the price range. I scored one on facebook marketplace for $50 but I still would have paid full price for it if I hadn't found that one.

I do recommend extending the Kelvin clips. This set here has been used by a few people with success, including me. It makes it much easier to use.

Do you remember any info on where I can find the English manual you speak of?

I bought the meter and probes mentioned above to do the kelvin clip modification. Saw that on a video a couple weeks ago.

The PDF says it is "IET Labs" I think they are what's left of Gen-Rad.

Model number is the same and the thing is identical.

I think this link is still good:
