60'S traynor trannies

Post by hebaton »

I have a 68 ( I think ) Traynor Yba-3 ... or the rest of it. this ised to be a 100watt bass amp.
The amp was completely medded. THe front end in now a black face AB763 cicuit. No trem and no reverb.
I honestly have no use for it. SO my question is :
CAn the trannies ( huge Hammonds ) be used to build a Marshall plexi clone ?
Even tough this was a 100 watt amp, I would like to see it become something like a 50 watt plexi...

One of the things you can't do with those transformers ( at least the power transformer) is make a 50 watt amp!

The power transformer has far too much unneeded current for a 50 watt build, and will increase the already high V+ level that the YBA-3 ran on even higher.

so one could use those with a 100watt plexi schematic and it would get in the ballpark ?

starting from the stock traynor would've been incredibly easy

You can set it up as a 50 watt amp, that way you don't have to compensate the output impedance. The above link will help to see how you can get the B+ down to what you need.
