Of all the amps I owned in my life ( I'm 63 " ) THE Fender Vibro-king has been my absolute favorite. Yes, it is atrociously loud ! but man , it sounds so rich, 3 dimentionnal and responsive...
What do you guys think would be the best way to get this amp to give out its magic, while lowering the output volume ?
Power scaling mod ( non destructive if can be done ) ?
power soaking at the output ?
PPIMV ?
Suggestion ?
Getting lower volume and keeping tone !

How do you get your favorite dish to make your mouth water without any of the seasoning that normally goes in it?
The SPL threshold of pleasure to your ears is what it is!
So the question then becomes just how much of a reduction in SPL can be put in place and still make your ears happy and also provide the play feel that you like also.
If you playing the amp up loud enough to get some clipping taking place, then that comes into the picture also.
The ratio of preamp distortion to output stage distortion then is part of the mix / recipe at that point also.
The 3-10” drivers in that amp move a lot of air and that’s what you like about it!

Easiest and least intrusive would be a PPIMV, and even better there is no feedback loop to mess up.

Have you tried a good attenuator? Some recent discussion around a successful design here: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35466

That amps 3 drivers are wire in parallel.
Disconnect one of them and then check out having one third less SPL .
It might be just what you are looking for.
