BM SSS?

Re: BM SSS?
You mean adding cathode follower stages to the PI outputs? If so, it allows more headroom from the PI so the output tubes distort first (they can't suck down the PI by drawing grid current out of the PI stage and distorting the PI outputs) and the overall amp sound is cleaner at louder volumes.

Re: BM SSS?
So would it have the same bass response as the BM? Is there a way to keep the clean and have big bass?

More clean headroom = more bass volume = better bass response. The cathode followers after the PI are most often seen in Bass amps and Hi-Fi amps where clean bass is desired.

Re: BM SSS?
what are the chances that srv's SSS's were build in this manner? Dumble said that it was build more like a bass amp..

						Re: BM SSS?
I believe the rumor was that the SSS was loosely bassed on the SVT or Sunn model T, in the SVT case it would be cathode followers driving the outputs. Surely someone on the forum knows what tube compliment a SSS has which should tell you if it has the cathode followers..
