At least as a starting point. I wanted to use KT-88's and 2 12" speakers. That quickly became a non-starter. So the compromise is KT-66's and 2 tens. I'm thinking ET-10's at this point as they're so efficient and sound good.

Why did KT-88s get cut out of the scope? Too much cost and/or power? Tone? Just curious. I do plan to revisit a SE format with a KT66. I only ran that amp at big bottle voltages however, not RCA specs (low plate voltage and primary).

Mainly because I have a handful of unmatched Kt66 tubes laying around and all my KT-88's are matched sets.
The 66's should drive the ET-10's well enough.
And the 10" speakers will save size and weight.
I'm stoked to have a stereo amp for my stereo effects. I'm running two amps currently and this will be less cumbersome.

So, this long term project took a turn. You know, the second step in a project, i.e.
1 Enthusiasm
2 Disappointment
3 Panic
4 The search for the guilty

The power tranny in the power amp chassis has poor regulation, dropping some 100V under load, in the power amp chassis.

Meanwhile, my main stereo system ST-70 was acting up and I found carnage.
Bulged caps under the charred board areas and melted noval sockets.
So to get audio for the T.V. etc., I popped this amp in its place. The sound is awesome, so there it stays, as I build another PA for the guitar amp. This time with KT-88's and a mega power transformer.
Meanwhile work begins on the preamp chassis.
