Well you could simply look at the bottom of the Rob Deluxe layout. He has a parts list.

There are inherent problems buying from a BOM, particularly when you are new at it.
1) One is the postage/shipping. You leave out one thing and it will cost an extra $10 to get that $1 part. Oh, and then it happens again. And maybe a 3rd time. You won't experience this with a kit.
2) The other is that your unpracticed eye may lead you to think that you've chosen the appropriate part(s) when, in fact, you haven't. See #1 above.

Are you going to buy a board from Hoffman? If so, order as many of the components as you can from him, too.

This current thread illustrates that when buying components, like caps, you have to make a particular choice out of a variety of possibilities.
