Bluesmaster PT

Post by Vertigo »

When building a 6l6 Bluesmaster, what primary voltage should be used for the PT? I'd like to try to snag a ClassicTone before they're gone. A schematic I found lists a 320V primary but that schematic doesn't match Tony's layout and I'm skeptical. I can't seem to find reliable information on the Magic Parts PT in the layout but I did see somewhere in another forum that it's 345V.

thank you

Heyboer makes something close to TF-130, but better. See: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.p ... 54#p149554 Scroll down a bit for the schematic diagram. They can make one for you if you give them the part number.

First I tried the red 710v primary, but plate voltage was sitting at over 505v without a load. So on the advice of the kind folks here I switched to the red/white 610v, and got the plate voltage down to 405v. It works great, though I have no basis for comparison.

505v without a load would seem correct though no? with a load that will drop. My bluesmaster is running at 500v with a load :D sounds great :D

405v seems a bit low for an ODS.

This was guidance given from xtian in the technical discussion... Maybe one day I'll switch it back and see how she runs. But as of now it's good. I neglected to mention, and I'm sure it makes a difference, but mines a 44 watt.

I find that EL34s give my amps an English accent.

LOL.....

well 6L6's are quite happy with up 500vDC I've found. The amps I've made from old Peavey Transformers all run around 500vDc on the plates.

give it a go, you might like it :)
