The DC resistance is often different like this. As long as it's not 0 or open you're good.Structo wrote:I measured the DC resistance of the OT to make sure it isn't fried and I got something like 345 ohm and 245 ohms on the primaries.

Re: Little Help Needed
Well I put all new tubes in it today and no sound....
Set bias on new JJ 6L6's @ 34ma.
I plugged a guitar cord in the input and put my thumb on the tip for some hum and I heard a faint buzzing/ oscillation then a kind of snap/ pop/ arc type noise at which time I powered down.
I'm afraid that when the TAD 6L6 red plated (shorted?) it may have taken the OT with it.
I am bummed.....

I've walked away from it for now.

I'll take some more measurements before I yank it out of there and see if I can't find a low ac voltage source to put on the primaries to see what I get out of the secondaries.

Ouch! What a drag. I'm really sorry to hear about that, Structo. Maybe this is an opportune moment for someone in the know to teach the rest of us how to fuse protect our transformers?

I'm such a DUMB ASS!!

Here I checked everything three times. Unsoldered both halves of the OT to measure resistances, checked every wire in the amp for continuity, I even checked my guitar cord.
I thought, did I check that speaker cable?
THE FREAKIN' SPEAKER CABLE HAS AN OPEN IN IT!!!!

So, since I had the amp half way tore apart I did some mods......

Always check the simplest things first Tom.......
At least I didn't have to buy a new OT!
