Building a 183, Question about the switches

Post by Abe5150 »

I am building my 183 clone using the layout and schematic in the files section, am I supposed to use on-on for the Jazz Rock and Bright switch or on-off-on? I read a thread where this was a problem just trying to get clarification. I know if you wanted the PAB on the front panel you would just use a on-off-on on the Jazz Rock switch but how is the layout for 183 in files section wired? I am excited about this build, Heyboer and Mouser are still in operation so I ordered some stuff to keep me busy while I am stuck at home.

The Jazz-Rock switch is the only one where you might want on-off-on (for PAB). The wiring isn't any different. If you use an on-off-on, you get that feature.

Thanks for the reply Martin. So let me get this straight, the way the layout is wired as shown allows you to use either on-on or on-off-on for the RJ switch. Right?

I use a an on-off-on for the bright so I can switch between the 220pf 100pf or bright off

That's correct. And yes, sorry, since the 183 layout is showing two bright caps, so an on-off-on switch there would allow a "no bright cap" setting in the middle position.
