As far as the PAB, dogears lays it out in a post a few above this. I padded the ground connection in PAB with a 4M7. I'm thinking about trying a 2M2, which I didn't have on hand at the time.
I really like this setup. I can see where guys would use a 72K here. Even 2.2M is a lot of boost in clean mode. Sounds killer. I think I'm gonna use a 220K and try it live. I would like to do 220K in clean mode and 2.2M in OD mode, but I dont know if thats possible with only 2 relays.

Thanks for posting this stuff!

What were those just right voltages?

Sorry, I've been out of town and only had time to check my email occasionally. . I'll look at my notes and post this in the coming week. Greiswig - PM sent.

With repect to the PAB,in the clean mode mine adds too much of a boost to my liking, but it is perfect in the OD mode. How would one go about padding it in the clean mode without disturbing the OD?

I think it would require a seperate relay.

Okay, the week's almost up! Did you find those "magic voltages?"

Not "magic"...but they sound really good.

FWIW, when I wrote these down, I had a EH in V2 that was measuring a little high. I started to get nervous about my string, but I tried a different one and it brought the 199 to 197 and the 217 to 213. Didn't notice much sound difference.... Just a friendly reminder how much tubes effect the plate voltages.

And a note - I'm not pushing this dropping string as anything even remotely close to "right". It started as the original D'Lite dropping string, and I tweaked until it brought the voltages to where they sounded good to me. YMMV.

Anyway:

B+1 = 444-445 VDC
B+2 = 441 VDC
B+3 = 433 VDC
B+4 = 351 VDC
B+5 = 344 VDC

V1A Plate - 193 VDC
V1B Plate - 206 VDC

V2A Plate - 199 VDC
V2B Plate - 217 VDC

V3A Plate - 300 VDC
V3B Plate - 289 VDC

V4 Plate - 443 VDC
V4 Screen - 440-441 VDC

V5 Plate - 443 VDC
V5 Screen - 440-441 VDC

Thanks Kleinm

I pretty much followed you down the garden path on this

I got:

V1a 205
V1b 205

V2a 201
V2b 202

V3a 317
V3b 313

V4,5 442 plates 441 screens
