Robbens own quote, we tried many different overdrive pedals, but recorded most of the album’s solos with just the cranked Vibrolux, save for a few tunes, like “Bound for Glory,” where he added a Mad Professor Twimble overdrive. “It explodes the sound,” he says of the pedal. “I used that for things where I wanted that almost too-overdriven sound.” Wow... Kinda sad no more Dumble just an old Fender and a box.

Bees in a jar tone... Sounds like Robben is" buried in the mix"

Yes, that is a different sound for sure. Not sure I like it.
Re: Robben Ford's new amp and speaker
Robben wanted a completely different sound from before, that's why he's not singing on this track too. He wanted a rock tone to go with the rock vocalist. I'm starting to wonder if Tino is getting some kickbacks from Bradbury, because he basically layed out every Little Walter amp.

It's different for sure, but I like it.

yep i agree. As an artist you have to keep moving forward, I Know a lot of his fans would be happy with him just remaking Talk to your Daughter forever, but I admire Robben for pushing forward artistically. I think his move to Nashville will bring out a lot for him as a person and artist.

The EP he recorded at Sweetwater that came out just before Purple House is a great recording. Love what he was doing there, especially with the POG...
Re: Robben Ford's new amp and speaker
Sounds like he's running his guitar signal through a Pixelator??? Whoaa?? I guess he got bored with his old Dumble and decided to try and " fit in" with his new life in Nashville scene? Well, he probably figures at his age he only has to please himself musically.. I get that..

Lots of good lyrics and melodies coming out of Nashville.
Lots of great musicians with a lot of styles.
No choice but to learn and grow (when in Rome)
Re: Robben Ford's new amp and speaker
Yeah I watched an interview with him once where he said the reason he moved to Nashville was so he could work on his songwriting craft.

So much talent in this town. You could throw a cat and hit a bad ass guitar player in this town......

I saw a great RF show last night in Honolulu. He used his Dumble!
