Hello fellow forum members,
I just purchased a slightly used Ceriatone HRM 50 Combo.. I really like so far..
The first thing I did after getting the amp and blowing a fuse was to swap the crap 6l6 tubes.. so I installed some NOS sylvania 6l6gc and sounded great, I have always been very fond of NOS Tungsol, so I tried them, it seems I prefer the sound of the Tungsol 5881 in this amp, rebiased to 24mv.. Yes, Yes I know about the high voltage, but never had issue with the 6l6/5881 swap before on other amps.
what has been your experience with 5881 ?
Thanks

Based on a lot of pro amp builders 5881 have been great even Friedman switched EL34's to 5881 due to reliability issues.
I used to change out my 6L6GC tubes in my old Tremolux to 5881's back in the 70's/80's but right now I don't think I have any but am planning on changing to the 5881's soon.
