183 Master Volume - 24pF Cap
I noticed that on the 183 schematic by MDROBERTS in the file section there is a 24pF capacitor across the pins 2 and 3 of the master volume that is not in the posted layout. What does that capacitor do?

The MDRoberts schematic is not correct.183 does not have a bright cap. The layout and the schematic posted just below the layout on page 1 is correct.

As Tony says, it's a "Bright" cap, the same as you see on many volume controls. It allows more treble to pass when the volume control is turned down to counter the roll-off in human hearing at lower volume and due to the input capacitance of the following stage. As bright caps go, it's a small one; the resulting treble boost won't appear much below 10kHz. You can add it if you like, it's up to you.
