SF Bassman mod

Post by andresound »

I have just completed the “re-build” and mod of an old 72 silverface Bassman for a friend. It is basically a JTM45 in the normal channel and a 3rd gen Dumble (clean only) in the bass channel (minus the jazz/rock and mid switch). The PI and output section are early Dumble including a 12AT7. Thank you for the JTM45 chocopower! The basics of the circuit are posted in the technical section.

I completely rebuilt the amp. New board etc, kept some of the big old coupling caps. Amp is quiet and sounds good, however, still some fine tuning to be done. I felt it is a bit “hot” as my friend uses pedals exclusively and mostly plays with the guitar wide open.

Waiting for a new stainless steel face plate and the chrome bits to arrive.

Before the fact. I had tried out some mods on the old board.

Finally finished!!! My first amp that has made some cash 😁. Built for a customer. Had stainless steel faceplate and badge made. Ist ch standard Dumble voice and 2nd ch Marshall voicing, 2nd gen Dumble 50w style PI and output, no MV.

Very happy how it turned out

Nice professional-looking work there! The faceplate is screen printed, I guess?
