Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
In response to Gil's post (love ya bud!), here is a snippet from a test clip I did this morning. Full blown Brownnote Bluesmaster. Mega boost yada yada..... HRM was set with treble about 47%, mids only on about 20%, and bass only on about 25%.
How does it sound? Sorry for weak playing.... Real rush job before work. Baker B1 on this one. SM57 and G1265.

Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
Dude, the playing is awesome and the amp super sings for you... but the sound is a bit like sandpaper to my ears at certain moments. What I am specifically referring to is after your souble stops, the low note has sort of a buzz around it which is what I could not dial out of my BM. My non HRM amps are simply not capable of any buzz.dogears wrote:In response to Gil's post (love ya bud!), here is a snippet from a test clip I did this morning. Full blown Brownnote Bluesmaster. Now, if that is the amp with the mega boost on, how different is the amp in OD without the PAB? That was the other thing about the BM: if I set the OD to where I liked it, the PAB on top of that was way too much. Doing tghe converse would result in the OD w/o PAB to be clean. I guess I am spoiled in that I am used to getting 4 good sounds out of my amps.
Now, fastforward to today. Help me dial in my HRM, Skyliner amp, please? Started another thread on it. By the way, was surpirsed to see your HRM settings so low...

Ok, how about this remix of this one? This is Skyline w/BM power and modded PAB. HRM was treble 150K from cap to wiper, bass 30%, mids 59%

Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
I like this better, "tighter" I would say, but doesn't seem to want to take off like the other clip did. This is the "SL PAB," correct? So treble HRM 40% up and mids 60%? That sounds more like what I would tend to do. I have my work cut out for me, tweaking wise.dogears wrote:Ok, how about this remix of this one? This is Skyline w/BM power and modded PAB. Look mister. I hear what Ayan's sayin' here, it would be nice for the harmoics to volunteer a little sooner in a couple spots. But sheesh man. That is OUTSTANDING tone. You keep worrying and worrying that poor thing yer gonna grow hair on the palms of your hands! That particular cut has MUCH smoother hair than anyting I've heard you play ever. Don't lose that. There's no gravel from the OD side feed that I can hear at all. Maybe punch up the treble on the Pre side and see if it'll sing a little sooner. Maybe just drop the size of the midcap slightly? The double stops breath a lot of life in your style. As Ayan noted, something kinda too hairy/scratchy on the first cut but don't touch it on the second one.

Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
How would it sound with the mids turned up? Personally, I like thicker mids . .dogears wrote:HRM was set with treble about 47%, mids only on about 20%, and bass only on about 25%.

Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
second clip is better. cool backing and great chops man, always like to hear your clips.
Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
I just saw this. I like the mids better turned up.

Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
Great clip, Scott. I probably should have mentioned this before, but that amp seems to like the RW&B over a 1265. (That's what we used at the LA Amp show.) Ordinarily I think the RW&B sounds muddy, but it seems to tame the lower-mid hash on the BM.
Re: Short full blown Bluesmaster clip.
That's second clip is great but sounds like the upper mids don't breathe as well as the first.
I'd still take that playing and tone any day on a rush job.

Scot,
Great clips and both sounds are very cool! I especially like the first one,
loads of character and bloom, IMHO.

Hey Scott, I like both clips - gotta build one of these D'cup amps!
Now if Brownnote would just ship my chassis...
Merry Christmas!

like the sing on the first clip but the fat smoothness of the second. great tone/playing either way.
