Pictures of Your Teenage Rock Band

Post by deeder »

All of us were newbies at a time especially when we became teenagers.
I remember well this époque, all started for me in guitar stuff. My first axe was an Ibanez SG with a Silver Face Princeton Reverb. Hey I was in Black Sabbath! I sold my equipment to buy a Music Man 210HD with an extension cabinet Marshall 412 and my beloved Les Paul Custom Black Beauty Di Marzio Cream PUs. The power tubes blowed up with regularity since I used a guitar cord to switch the cab, my bad... If I had known! It was in the eighties.
I would soon become a musician. Unfortunately my guitar was stolen during an open air festival.
I said OK I will not never guitarist my baby is gone… I became journalist for a long time, but never giving up I finally ends up still as musician.
Here is some photographs:

Here’s my 20-something band. I was playing thru EXACTLY the wrong amp: Roland JC 120. But with a RAT pedal and a bit of echo, didn’t sound too bad...

I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

I was always the youngern in the band. I believe I was 17 or 18 here - the rest of the band 5 or 6 years older.

Wish I still had the Sound City and '55 Special......

About 1983. I had the long blonde hair and the Gibson bass. Still have the bass, just not so much hair.

Here's a band I played in in Sacramento in 1975 (I'm the guitarist on the right):

And this was a typical cut-and-paste flyer (I'm second from right):

Wish I could see these. I lived in Citrus Heights in '75!! Graduated HS there. What was the name of your band?

Yeah I highly recommend not using photobucket anymore they severely limit downloads unless you pay for their services. I'd either upload here, or use a free site like imgur.com

Dang Photobucket! See if this works with imgur...not exactly the same pics but close enough.

Earthrock was the band name - My first amp I used with them was a Dual Showman Reverb - it was way too loud - I spent a lot of time searching for that sweet spot between "too loud" and "off"

So our whole band went to the local shop called the Vox Room and got set up with 50W Traynors and 4x12 cabs. They were great amps :D

We played all around Sacto, and our biggest gig was when we won a Battle of the Bands and got to back up Starship at a local festival.
