That's awesome.. and yeah. I play mine through a Palmer PGA load and never really go above what would be 60-70% on the volume at the amp.. if I walk up to the rig it goes absolutely mad with squeal and the chassis will sing through that stage TING for about hmm an 8th of a second if you tap it.

That said; it's the most stability I have ever had from a slightly microphonic amp. That microphony is important to the way it operates. I leave the pres control above 5 or 6 and work the tones all between 4 and maybe 7 mostly.

Looks great, and no matter what.. you can't be more than a couple tiny tweaks from perfect. Congrats!

Thanks Miles!
You're right, your view on the microphonic properties decided me to focus on that part.
I saw gutshots with a kind of foam glued to the inside. I had some tape left from a previous speaker mounting and decided to use it. Viola! Problem solved. The amp is still microphonic but stable at gig volume.

Next was trying different speakers:
initial start with Celestion gold. Way too bright, and this speaker needs serious volume to sound good with drive and bright on.

Then a Evm12L in a Thiele cab: whoahhh this is incredible sounding!

Then a combo cabinet from a peavey Deuce where the amp was stripped for transformers. Original speakers from peavey: whoahhh! Very nice. Gonna refurbish that cab!

Resistor after second second stage remains 68k, it's perfect with my strat.
Next is a head cab. Excited!

This is so funny. Let me fetch a Dave about that thiele outcome. That is a loveable cabinet with the perfect speaker.

Dampening the chassis is a must, for sure! You figured this amp out pretty fast. Good work. I'm going to drink coffee and play mine ntil my eyes clear up... or I run out of coffee. :) then more coffee.

Is the Liverpool basically a SS Rocket or a 4x EL84 express?

It's funny you talking about the Peavey Deuce cab :D I had the same speaker and cab for exactly those reasons. I managed to squeeze a Dumble Bluesmaster into mine though and sold it on with a Celestion classic lead 80, sounded awesome. I still have the original speaker in a Thiele cab ironically :D

glad you've got it sorted.

Neither. It's something else. It's the monster gain and it's Hendrix double-stops and it's the one to have..

I never loved a TW. I don't like 84s for any reason except Voxes and then I am barely tolerant.

If there was a list that had AC30TB, Superlead, JTM, and early BF Twin, you'd be incomplete with your list. Liverpool belongs in the middle of that list somewhere.

Erwin, if you still have ping on the chassis that causes trouble, play the amp a little while putting a finger on the middle of the chassis and move it around until you find the nodes where that frequency builds up, TURN OFF THE AMP then flip it over and put a piece of mute right there. :)

Evm12L is often reffered to as overly bright, but in the Tl806 design it's shining.
Your comments made it easy and a lot faster than figuring it out on my own.

I think the Liverpool pre is closer to a Express than a Rocket from a electronic viewpoint.
Yeah the transformers in those 100w Deuce's are pretty good. Mine ended up in a #102 Dumble I built and sold it.
The cab was sitting ducks for a new project😀.
