Been watching your progress here. Really cool build!
A couple questions, and apologies if I missed it. Are you using the transformers you sourced from your friend for this, and are you sticking to his recommended voltage of 350v or whatever it was?
Cheers!

Thx Bryce! Yes, used one of the 6k Schumacher OTs. I have about 390 on the plates. I used a MOSFET B+ dropper with a 50v Zener to dump some voltage from the OEM Fender Hot Rod Deluxe PT. I'm getting just shy of 30 watts clean.

Oh, perfect! I've got a HRD carcass and something like this could be a cool project.
Funny, but the more I read, the more it seems like modern tubes just don't sound as good at higher voltages. Lowering the b+ was the only way I could tame the angry shards of broken glass tone in my p/p el84 amp.
Thx for the info!

Full battle dress applied (new faceplate from indcom.graphics -- formerly PanelCraft, Inc.) and rear panel with...mismatched...black tolex.

Looking very good.

Good question, Steve. I think....it came from a Bugera. But really no idea. It's been in my parts pile for a while.

Nice Recycle-age. I have a bin of random stuff like that, comes in handy sometimes.

Looks and sounds great!

She got a new, dark silver grille cloth. Ooh, pretty.
I put in a pair of Russian 6P6S (6n6c), 400 on plates, biased at 50%. What a cool mod! Amp was too loud to crank before, but with these tubes pushing against the ~7K primary, it's golden! Great distortion at volume with a really clear and tight bottom. Sounds like JTM45 circuitry (Tweed Bassman Normal channel, remember).
Gonna play it at local mid-sized club on Saturday.
