Or that someone might see that as a good thing?
Only a few possible scenarios come to mind to support that theory:
1) More traffic on the site causes the web hosting bill to go up.
2) Allyn wants to be done with TAG, but doesn't feel good about "just pulling the plug", and so he is waiting for it to die (for whatever reason).

But there are workarounds for both:

1) Take donations from the membership to cover the web hosting fees.
2) Pass the site to someone who cares enough about it to fix it and keep it running.

No one knows what Allyn is thinking: he refuses to communicate with us, except for an occasional appearance to say "we're working on it", which has no impact whatsoever on how the rest of us feel about TAG's demise - nor does it provide any real information about what's going on.

Whelp, start voting with your legs! Go over to RJ's new site (see above) and post!

I'm browsing that site every day, but there's very little traffic.

And I haven't had any new builds to post lately. Mostly I'm lurking to help people troubleshoot.

Big red "Attack site" flag reappeared this morning as I accessed TAG.

If anyone has the means & will, how about set up a "mirror" site, drag over whatever you can from here except Google's interference & we can pick it up from there.

I believe RG has already done that--used a web crawler to suck down all the files and info from this site. RG?

It was a statement of fact that other types of social media have put us in a very low traffic situation. My question was is it really worth it to update this site for such a low traffic situation? Or should it just be left as is?
The members want to keep the site going, they will take it over and host it, please ask Allyn if he will let them, we all want TAG to continue.
Please Allyn let it go to those that care rather than us go over and over the same old shit month after month.
Low traffic? No new members?
It's only us crazies who ignore the warnings and dive in, what new members are going to sign up?
It can be saved, and the members want to save it, please let them instead of letting TAG bleed slowly to death.

I achieved a partial solution.

Firefox has an add-on that will make what amounts to a local copy. There are various flies in this ointment, the big one being that the utility doesn't make a copy that's suitable for loading into a new web page. It uses its own special index, and puts the captured pages into html format. It works as a reference copy, but it would require lots of work to convert back into a usable site on the web.

This site, like many current sites, uses a database approach. Messages are put into a database and referenced by - oh, call it a message number - and responses to queries are done by the backend database looking up numbered entries. It's really different from what you get from the add-on, and can't easily be made into a new web page.

It would be possible to use this for a local copy for your own use. I suspect that we're down to a remarkably few number of active members. The names on the (few) new posts are all familiar. Lots of people may read, but active participation is probably well under 100 people, maybe much less. So those people might be able to just take a local copy and not need the site's back-files at all.

Here's a question that deserves some thought. When is the last time you did a search for previous content instead of just reading the few new messages? Put another way, how long would it be before you noticed that all the history had vanished if no one else told you it had?]

It may be that saving the history isn't all that big a deal once the few people who would care have their own copies.

Just sayin'...

I do this quite frequently, both for my own use and to point someone to an old post that answers their question or provides useful info.

I log on to TAG every day, and want it to continue, but have watched it fizzle and cough for many months now. I have not built a new amp since March, and won't have time until October, but have several waiting in the wings, and would like to know that this forum is still alive and vital.

I can't imagine why Allyn would want to prevent anyone here who wants to take over the site, just as he did from Omar; it appears he isn't involved in actively running this forum.

My Kaspersky Total security software won't allow me to post photos.
I have some cool amps to share but a photo is worth a thousand words.

I also log in every day have a look round read all the posts, I also look back at old posts.

This has been a very active community but the security issue has made it more difficult to access.

I can’t get in with my Mac so I use an old laptop running vista and I.E. I get straight in with no problems or warnings using a saved tab.
