In seperate events, two of my fellow disc golfers were fined for peeing in the woods. No one within two hundred yards, and surrounded by woods! They were spotted by LEO's hiding in the woods with binoculars, no doubt looking for something more sinister or drug related. Now the two are on the sex offender rolls, have to make meetings with "parole officer/cashiers", that are contracted to collect weekly checks for the county. I'm just glad we don't have a for profit prison that needs occupants.

John_P_WI wrote:Leo, thanks for the advice. It's not even worth elaborating on, especially since it was on private property of a business. Small town USA, full of wanna be d-bags. Went to muni court, where I learned it was nothing more than a revenue stream. Um, yeah... good start to the year.
"was on private property" = I hope that means there's no fine.

Noobie woman cop ticketed a friend of mine in a shopping center a couple years ago. All her co-workers attended the court to see the judge give noobie-cop a proper lecture... :D.

Other than that, yes muni court a revenue stream here too. 5000 people in the municipality, nearly 10,000 traffic cases per year, all bargained down to minor offenses via court/cop agreement so municipality could retain ALL the fine money & court expenses instead of having to share the take with the state. Police force tripled in size, now a million+ $ per year enterprise, custom painted cars, detailed every week, new mobile command center truck. Meanwhile the usual crimes continue, running stop signs & red lights, yakking on cell phones & texting while driving, not to mention dope dealers etc etc etc. What a circus.
What a circus indeed Leo, in my case muni court was complete with occifer Obie, color glossies, paragraphs etc from the doodoo gooder, the only thing missing was the seeing eye dog

Lol, that was lost on the younger group

Visions of circles & arrows are dancin' in my brain, still I'm sittin' here on the Group W bench, still a-wonderin' . . . and hopin' . . . you didn't have to pay a fine. "Private property" should have been the end of it.

I knew you would understand the humor...

Yup, wallet got lightened... small town revenue generator.

I don't want to sound too negative my oldest daughter's BF is in the sheriff's academy (different county) and is a great kid. Maybe there is hope for the future.

You had to pay a fine for parking/standing (parked engine running with driver in seat) on PRIVATE PROPERTY? Much less no police witness, not that it should matter. Judge clearly has his head up his ass. He's elected, right? Let your neighbors know long and loud - next election, OUT with the scoundrel. Better you be the next judge. Around here it's the only position that's ever interested me.

On a lighter note there was an exchange on local Craigs rant n rave from a moron who did park in a fire zone in front of Home Despot, got a $300 ticket for that. Tried to get everybody's sympathy "because I'm a member of the Naval Reserve, and I was only inside the store a couple minutes." Too bad charlie, thousands of parking spaces, your legs work fine, so do your eyes, and a member of any military outfit oughta know RULES and PENALTIES for not following THE RULES. He got lambasted left and right, still couldn't see what he did wrong, stupid boo hoo. If I was his Navy Reserve CO and found out about his ticket and his whining I'd give him the shit jobs for the rest of his term, and no chance of getting a promotion.

Active, I expect they'd be smart enough to follow the rules, park in the lot, get a little exercise, no problem. Then again, there's all types out there, just like regular folks, most good, a couple dumb-asses, some consider themselves "privileged characters". For those in ANY service uniform: it never hurts to set a GOOD example, right?
