It's not an amp, but it does have tubes!

Post by gui_tarzan »

My great-grandfather bought this decades ago and it went to my aunt & uncle after he passed. I told them if they ever wanted to get rid of it, I would love to be the first one given a chance to have it.

Tonight they called me and said they had something for me if I wanted it. I sort of knew but it was still a fantastic gift and one I will cherish forever. Grandpa used to watch Tiger baseball games on it religiously and I have very fond memories around that time period.

One cool thing about it, we live in the same house my grandparents bought back in 1952 so you could say the old TV finally came home.

My uncle said when he plugged it in years ago and turned it on it started smoking, so no, I don't think so. :)

Probably could make the audio signal wiggle across the CRT. If it still works. Can't replace those. Back half of your RCA tube manual is useless nowadays. Picture tubes and such.

Converting a TV to an oscilloscope is not difficult, but it would be a shame to hack this this thing up in any way. It looks to be in very good condition, and therefore worth some money to a collector.

No, this won't be hacked up in any way. It's a family treasure, at least in my mind.

It won't pick up anything anymore. Converter in front, it could show embarasssing TV. I'd put a VCR in front, buy old tapes, watch Jack Parr. Lenny Bruce. Nice piece. You're right not to fuck with it.
