Insulating a Thiele TL806 cabinet ?????

I get a low level buzz through the cab speaker when I drive the speaker a bit. I have an EVM2L in the cab and I've tried a couple on them so I ruled out the speaker as the problem. I ran my fender twin through the cab and it still did the same thing. Im going to go through the cab to make sure everything is tight and sealed. How important is insulating these cabinets? does anyone have a good picture of a properly insulated 806 cab?

When you see insulation or stuffing in a speaker it slows the sound wave making it act like a larger cabinet.

Unless you mean caulking the seams.

Yup, I was referring to insulation. Does anyone have advice on what to use and hoe to install it? Do you use some kind of spray adhesive? What insulation do you use? picks would be awesome....

Not sure this is your problem, but I have built a bass cab where I used stuff I found at a JoAnn's...I believe it's called batting. Avoid fiberglass batting.

I did have some pillow batting in the cab but I used staples. I ripped that out and siliconed all the seams and picked up some bigger screws. All the joints are glued and screwed but a bunch of the screws are stripped. I also picked up some weather stripping for the baffle board and back panel of the cabinet.
I'm just trying to make sure everything that can cause a vibration issue is taken care of. i want to make sure I do the batting right so it stays in place and during operation.

I have built several EV TL designed cabinets with great results. I have used paper backed fiberglass insulation, and vinyl backed fiberglass insulation, both glued, and stapled in place. I have also used both dense foam, and cotton matting material that was glued, and stapled. I do calk all the seams to make the cab completely airtight.
I want to try, (if I ever build another enclosure), the "rino" truck bed covering, seems just a thin layer would dampen any vibrations, and also seal as well!
(You do know, that the port cleats are not insulated).

Speaker cabs can do weird things.

Like make strange noises if not sealed correctly.

I had a friend that used to occasionally blow the input jack out of his cab.

Possibly hitting the resonate frequency of the cab/wood? Sit on the cab to deaden the side you are sitting on to test this. The back and baffle will be a challenge if you get that far. If you find a side is resonating perhaps gluing a bit of bracing like an acoustic guitar sound board might help.

On the stripped out screws tooth picks and glue will tighten those up.

I replaced all of the screws with larger ones and that solved that issue. I think the buzz is gone but I'll have to do more testing to make sure. The bracing idea is cool too. Nice

Geeze is right on with the resonant frequency idea. I once was installing insulation in a cab while I had music playing, (fairly loudly), in the same room. When I stuck my head into the speaker hole, it would almost knock you out! I suspect it was the fundamental frequency that was getting reinforced.
