Looks great!

Man those transformers are huge!

I don't think that I would install those until last because of the weight and awkwardness in handling the chassis.

What color will the cab be?

Don't let that smoke out!

Well, I got the courage to fire it up without tubes on the light bulb limiter, everything cool so far. I've built like 5 amps, but I'm afraid to fire this one up for some reason, lol! I'll have time tonight to test voltages with tubes in.

Tom, yes those transformers made it a bit difficult to handle! I haven't decided on a head sleeve color yet. the guy that sells the chassis/boards offers just about any color...might do purple, who knows?

The original I worked on had 560V B+.

Very manly amp, be careful.

Because you have a lot invested in it. I never have any trouble booting up Champs, it's the big ones that worry you. I always used to finish amps at 3 am then try and fire them up all tired and unfocused after 10hrs of soldering with no dinner, no breaks... Then I learned to let 24 hrs pass once it's finished, clear my head, and then do one last check of every connection checking off on a printed schematic before firing it up even w/ a DBL. Go slow, that thing's gonna be one hell of an amp!

BTW any idea why the guy that makes the parts doesn't paint the chassis orange? Does Orange own the rights to that color and would give him trouble?

I don't think he's selling the chassis any more. Last time I've check (2 days ago) there was no chassis on Hilbish Design's website listed for sell

I've worked on several SVT's and what's amazing to me is Ampeg's design is not not very friendly for servicing. What a heavy pig. :)

Well, I found the courage to flip the switch, it's alive!!

Jelle, thanks for the heads up, indeed the output tube plates were reading 520V+ :!:

I'm surprised everything works first go around, but the pc board is very nicely made so I guess i'm not so shocked.

Thanks for the interest in this build, it was very fun to assemble!
