This puppy just rips with my les paul. Very rich, forward and focused sound.

70s ODS build
Just completed my Overdrive Special 70s voicing. This is a 2nd generation one. Set up for 50w from 2x 6L6GC, 2x EL34, or 4x 6V6. It can go to 25w via the half power switch with 4x 6V6. Footswitch for channel select only, no PAB as per original. Many NOS resistors, and those big Sprague filter caps? I like them!

Re: 70s ODS build
Love mine. 50w with 6L6's. You can see a patch under the PI tube. It was a 3 preamp tube unit and the hole fit a JJ 40-20-20-20 cap but I added a built-in loop in the revamp.
I've got a thread up now looking for speaker ideas to add another ported 1X12 to the current one with an SRO.
Enjoy yours if you are keeping it and good playing to the buyer if you aren't, sh

Just to avoid misunderstandings:jelle wrote:no PAB as per original.
An original 2nd generation ODS doesn't have a footswitchable PAB. But an original 2nd generation ODS has sliding switches and no toggle switches. And if the Rock/Jazz (or Guitar/Mic) sliding switch of an original 2nd generation ODS is in its "in the middle between Rock and Jazz (or Guitar/Mic)" position, there's a PAB function.

Exactly! No PAB relay/footswitch function, but PAB is accessible through the center off position of the Rock/Jazz switch.Max wrote:Just to avoid misunderstandings:jelle wrote:Footswitch for channel select only, no PAB as per original.

Re: 70s ODS build
Thanks!!
Yes, it has a built in loop.
Also, I replied to the speaker thread. Studio 12L in a front ported cab works well.
The SRO works best in a larger open back cab, IMO.
