Re: Cleaning up the member list?
Any further thoughts on cleaning up the member list.
I still think it is a good idea.

Hmmmm, lol, no idea if I have posted or not, I haven't had much time to work on gear for a long time!
Figured I better post something just to get on board

Re: Cleaning up the member list?
I was reading thru this thread and realized that I never really introduced myself, although you guys have all been very welcoming and helpful regardless. I just showed up posting like I owned the damn place. I have never been familiar with forums until I discovered TAG, so please excuse my lack of etiquette.
So just to make it official, here's my introduction.
Hi I'm Boots and I'm addicted to guitars and amps. I would change my username to something less hokey, but it's a nickname I had in electronics school years ago and I thought my old classmates might recognize me on the forum if they were lurking. But alas, none of them ventured into amp building (or they're not admitting it). Some day I'll figure out how to add an avatar to my posts.
I've been tinkering on electronic things (mostly radios) since I was 11, but just started building guitar amps a few years ago. Despite having some background in electronics, I have sure learned a lot of specifics about guitar amps from you guys. Since they break most of the rules of good engineering practice, the ins & outs of guitar amps must be learned from others with first hand experience. You guys are an incredible resouce!
I've built half a dozen amps, and someday I should post some pics, but it probably makes more sense to wait until my next build comes along. So far, I am still a "gut-shot virgin".
Oh yeah - I like beer, too.
Thanks for having me.

Don't you boys know any NICE songs?
Re: Cleaning up the member list?
I'm a neatnik but just to play devil's advocate you could just keep letting it pile up, it's just data not code, and mostly text at that. It's not like it's 1993 and 2G HD costs $300. Just saying.

That looks like my workshop - after I've tidied up a bit.
There's an elephant in there somewhere.

A 2015 New Years Resolution?
This one died on the vine in 2014, any hope for it in 2015.
I liked the rule where you have to make 10 posts to use the for sale section?
I'm not sure how that could be automated though.

Re: Cleaning up the member list?
I've been following this thread and have finally firmed up a position.
I see no reason to delete a member unless she or he becomes a problem. And then only after repeat offenses.
What is the harm in leaving a person on the member roll? Does it cost too much money? Is it too time consuming? I am a secret member of lots of forums. Some I only read every couple of years and never have posted.
You cannot view certain photos or drawings , schematics etc without a membership.
I guess I am for a more inclusive world, one where we are all a part.
I just don't see the problem, except the one being proposed.
I propose more freedom not less.
Sincerely,
Billy Z
