What do you think would happen if I built a TW Express into a Fender silverface Bassman chassis? I picked one up that had been gutted a few years ago and I do have a Stancor A-3801 that is looking for something to do.
I know that the wiring layout is very temperamental in these amps, could it be overcome in this configuration?

Gutted AB165 Fender Bassman chassis
Making the world a better place...one amp at a time!

the fender chassis is steel vs. traditional trainwreck aluminum but besides that I don't see a problem.

I'm sure that you can do it, but lead dress will be completely different given the different configuration. Hard to tell if it will be different, better or worse. Who knows, you might like it!

Take a look at Paul Ruby's website, he builds Wrecks with Fender layouts and can caps, they seem to work fine.
If that doesn't work out for you, I built a Dumble Bluesmaster HRM some years ago from a '67 AB165 chassis. Owner loves its "uber warmth".

I've built the Komet 60 and TW Rocket into Fender Bassman chassis.
Recently some one built an Express into a Fender chassis I believe.
Probably work better since your in a larger chassis and get the pesky NFB/presence circuit routed better.
