Oceans theme
LOVE Oceans theme! What amp?Synchu wrote:Thanks for the good words. Wouldn't have been possible without this great community.
Tom, not that I am saying you should have one, but it does sound quite inspirational with a low output neck strat pickup and even better through an open back cab, guitar volume interaction is also very good, not in the Trainwreck/Komet style, but very good on its own....just sayin'![]()

Thanks Jim,
Uhh... that was recorded so long ago, but my setup back then was a Hughes and Kettner Tubeman 2 preamp ( I am still huge Nuno Bettencourt fen and long ago he was using for a while H&K Triamp. Being a poor student, Triamp was way out of my reach, so as soon as Tubemans 2 came out, I went nuts until was able to get one) into the Power Amp of an 80s Dynacord Reference 1000 100W tube combo (interesting thing about this one is that it is MIDI programmable - you can store your controls settings and call them up through a footswitch).
I still have them both for sentimental reasons and will probably never part'em

I could never bond with Engls for some reason, except that I played an extremely nice sounding Thunder combo (I think?) some years ago. We were just moving into a new place with tons of guitar gear being spread all over a small room adjacent to the bedroom, that I repurposed from a larger sort of closet. So wifey said - "another amp - no way - there's no space for us"
Never heard Panos, but will check him out! Thanks for pointing.

Very nice playing by Panos!
While I would put the sounds more into modded Marshall realm, I can see how I could easily bond with this type of sounds. These days I am more into cleaner sounding blues/jazz/classic rock stuff (did somebody mentioned age), but still appreciate a nice shred
I never actually looked at ENGL schematics - might worth taking a look at what's available - from learning perspective at least

ps. Here's a short rec of the Tweedle D, using germanium sort of rangemaster booster with a strat, for a friend, who's like the biggest fen of small amps, I know - so posting here as well, might be of some reference use https://soundcloud.com/synchu/impromptu-hiwalker

Re: Oh...no, not another Tweedle Dee
Thanks.
AFAIR that was Sennheiser e906 and Geffel LD condenser through JLMAUDIO tg500 and Seventh Circle N72 preamps. I might have thrown a pinch of a room mic that I have set up, but don't remember :/ This goes to RME Multiface 2 and then Samplitude DAW.

Nice
did you build the N72 pre's?
I'm looking at building some DIY pre's, maybe 500 series stuff
JLM has a pre and opto compressor kits

Re: Oh...no, not another Tweedle Dee
I built a chassis full of 7th Circle preamps some years ago. A25, N72, J99.
They were all great.

Re: Oh...no, not another Tweedle Dee
I highly recommend them as well as JlmAudio pres.
I built neither of those. Were purchased long before I started chasing marshmallows with the soldering iron
Joe at Jlm racked two 500 format modules for me with a power supply in a 1u box and I've been happy user ever since. And I got another friend rack the n72 PCB which some guy was selling already done.
I still find a tube amp much easier to do than one of these - looked some months ago over some API schematics...
